我曾經閱讀一篇文章”Blogs look so 2004″，六年後的今天我還繼續在寫Blog。戶外物料上的轉變，如BPL所說：Silnylon 已經是2005年的產品，而Spinnaker 是2007，但在2010 會是什麼? 2010 相信會是 Cuben Fiber!
Cuben Fiber 是Ultralight Backpacker 追求更輕層次的物料! 我不是超輕的Die Hard Fans，最主要會是環境沒有這種需求感，所以如果超輕Backpacking 純是娛樂的情況下，我就會再考慮其他因素，如價錢，設計，用料，配色，品牌等等。至於令我真正想了解會是因為Zpacks Hexamid Solo Tent，近日又入手2 sqyd .51 oz Cuber Fiber玩玩，但真正玩上手還是新手一個，在此分享一些自已找尋關於Cuben Fiber 的資料。
簡介：
Cuben Fiber 名字的由來是1992 的 America’s Cup 帆船競賽比賽，當時的America³ (pronounced America Cubed) 贏得比賽，而America³ 當時使用了專有的物料(America Cube Carbon Fiber Hybrid)，而媒體更給這物料改了個名字「Cuben Fiber」。
非帆船用的Cuben Fiber自2003年起由 Cubic Tech Crop 研發及生產。而Cuben Fiber Corp就繼續生產帆船用的Cuben Fiber。
構造：
“Cuben Fiber is a laminated fabric constructed from plasma-treated Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber monofilaments and polyester, PVF etc. films. Cuben fiber is sometimes confused with carbon fiber, one of the many fibers used as a reinforcement in some Cuben Fiber laminatess.” via Wiki
特點：
發展到今日的Cuben Fiber 有以下特性：
超輕量，防水，抵抗紫外線和其高強度，強度比起其他物料都要好*，比起其他物料同等厚度甚至更厚*都耐用，以上各點都得到超輕背包者的垂青。最輕的Cuben Fiber 據說是.29oz/sqyd。
現時巿面上的Cuben Fiber 戶外產品：
背包(2)，帳蓬(2)，睡袋，雜物袋，天幕，背包套， 露宿袋，Poncho Tarp, Wallet，雪鞋…等等！
